  1. You Should Know When To Harvest
You-Should-Know-When-To-Harvest

Yeah, you are pretty excited to harvest weed. I understand that, but you need to know when you should harvest them

  • Time of harvesting: When you have decided to grow your cannabis plants outside, you have to check the time of the year and the type of strain you will use. But when growing inside, it will all about the shade of the trichome buds of your plant. These trichomes carry THC.

What’s this whole business about trichome buds and their color? Well, they are not visible to the naked because they EXTREMELY small. So, what’s the solution? Simple, use a microscope to check it out, and it will help you keep track of them as well.

  • Selecting the bud carefully: The bud will be immature if you find the color to be clear and translucent. But when it has an amber shade, the cannabis will carry a much stronger potency and be a lot STONIER than you think.
  • Observe the color: You should only think of harvesting when the trichome buds carry a milky white and cloud color and also started to turn amber, reddish, or brownish. This is mainly because the cannabis plant doesn’t require any more water in the form of the nutrient.

Right from here, you have a 5 to 7 days window to harvest.

One pro tip – Wait for at least half of the buds to turn red and then think of going for the harvesting work

Trust me. It’s worth it. You can thank me later…

  1. Consider The Surroundings Or Environment
Consider-The-Surroundings-Or-Environment

When you are prepping to harvest and trim, you have to consider the room’s environmental conditions where you are gathering. If you want the outcomes to be positive, you will require excellent air circulation because the air’s smell becomes pretty intense.

Try to keep the room temperature to 70 Degrees Fahrenheit and make sure to devoid the moisture as it will keep your buds under excellent condition.

  1. Flush Out The Nutrients
Flush-Out-The-Nutrients

As a grower, I have come across some cannabis growers who like to PREP their marijuana plants by flushing out all the necessary nutrients.

To be all honest, I find this technique to be a useful one.

Then flood the medium with water until all the nutrients break downs. After that, just stay still for several minutes and then pour the water again. Make sure you do so two weeks before the harvesting work.

Remember one thing clearly, the 1st dose will dissolve all the salts it has in-store, and the 2nd dose of water helps flush them out thoroughly. When you over-irrigate the medium, it will be a massive help for your entire harvesting process.

Once you flush out the nutrients from the plants, you will find that the leaves have also started changing color. From dark green, it will become light green and then yellow.

Want to check whether the flush out was a success or not? Simple, try to break down one leaf and taste the juices of the stem. Don’t hesitate. Just try it out!

If they taste bitter, this shows that it has a lot of food and sugar. But if they taste just like water, well, “IT’S GO TIME!!!!”

  1. Trim Them Out Accordingly

Different strains of cannabis come with different trims. So, for the strain you purchased from i49.net, you need to learn about the type of trim it requires right before you think of trimming them.

  1. Cut big leaves: But how to conduct the trimming work? To begin the process, you must cut down all the big leaves and then trim off all the leaf tips, which are around the buds. Make sure you get this work done a week before you harvest them.
  2. Trim short leaves: You must trim out all those leaves that are not associated with the buds and then proceed towards the ones related to them.
  3. Snip them gently: Please be very gentle when you snip them. Try to turn the leaves over slowly and then trim at the stem and then on the leaf. Don’t cut down quickly, be very careful! If you hurry, you end up cutting a part of the plant that you didn’t want to.

I did something like this before, and I regretted it as I didn’t trim them properly

Don’t make the same mistake as I did.

Make sure that the buds do not receive any damage during the trimming process.

  1. Give Them Time To Dry
Give-Them-Time-To-Dry

Once the harvesting and trimming work gets done, and it’s DRYING TIME!!!

Remember, even when you have cut down the plant, it’s still pretty much alive because it has water within the system. If you want to use them, you need to make sure that the plant doesn’t carry a single drop of water in it.

But how exactly will you dry it? You just need to hang them upside down once the plants are harvested and trimmed.

  1. Airflow is important: You can hang them on a string to enable adequate airflow.

When I say AIRFLOW, I mean natural and real AIRFLOW. Don’t use any electrical gadgets like a HAIR DRYER or something.

They are suitable for your hair, not for your cannabis plant.

  1. Hang them in a room with optimal temperature: Okay, now, you have to hang them for 5 to 7 days and make sure the room temperature is 70 Degrees. On the other hand, the room should carry 50% humidity as it will quicken the drying process.
  1. Take out samples: Once it reaches 4 or 5 days, you can pluck some buds from the cannabis plant and use it as a sample. When the stems snap, it indicates that the buds are all ready for curing, and the drying process is completed.
